Opel Manta CC
The Opel Manta CC
The
Manta CC, introduced in 1978, was the versatile Manta hatchback
or Combi Coupe (hence the CC tag) the same vehicle as the Vauxhall
Cavalier Sports Hatch. The pricetag was just under £5000.
The bootspace was better lined than the Coupe being properly carpetted
with the tyre stowed flush under the floor and had a solid metal
parcel shelf that was ideal for mounting big speakers. I saw a gold
Manta CC at Bug Jam '87 with a pair of 12" speakers in a nicely
modified parcel shelf.
Starting in Berlinetta form with chrome trim and bumpers etc the
Manta CC followed the same design changes as the coupe. With plastic
bumpers, new trim and the later GTE spec with body coloured bumpers,
velour Recaros, 14" Ronal alloys and the Irmscher Exclusive
with black/silver alloys, quad lamps and relocated number plate.
The Irmscher Exclusive GTE hatchback is less common than the Exclusive
coupe, having had a shorter production run.
